Norwalk, Connecticut: Easton Press, 1999. Collector's Edition. Full Leather. New / No Jacket as Issued. Item #5404
A handsome dark green leather signed Collector's Edition signed by its author, Annie Dillard, unopened and still in the publisher's original cellophane wrap. Photos are from an identical copy. Includes Certificate of Authenticity from Easton Press. In fine unread condition with moire silk endpapers, gold-gilt cover designs and page edges, and bound-in silk bookmark. Still in the original shrinkwrap. Other books by Annie Dillard include "An American Childhood," "The Writing Life," "Teaching the Stones to Talk," "The Living" and "For the Time Being." A fine copy by one of America's most original writers.
The book won the Pulitzer Prize for Non-Fiction in 1975 and "turned" 50 in 2025. Author Dillard passed September 15th, 2026. Frequently compared to Thoreau, William Blake and Emily Dickinson, Dillard's "Pilgrim at Tinker Creek" was an attempt, in her words, "to describe the creator, if any, by studying creation." On her website, Dillard referenced a review of her as "one of the foremost horror writers of the 20th century" as "wonderful." A delightful, witty writer, who referred to "Pilgrim at Tinker's Creek" as "Patsy." The 2026 New Yorker article, "Annie Dillard's Subject Was The Whole World" is well worth the read for the curious, along with Dillard's 1977 "Holy the Firm."
