Buck O’Neil shined in Ken Burns’ 1994 documentary "Baseball," speaking with the same enthusiasm and charm that had defined his years on the field: “It is an American game. That’s just what it is… I’m 81, but I can feel like I’m 15 when I’m talking baseball, I’m watching baseball. This is it. It does this to any man. It brings you back.” O’Neil, a beloved figure in the sport, died in 2006 and was finally inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2022.
