Connie Willis is a member of the Science Fiction Hall of Fame and was named the 28th Grand Master by the Science Fiction Writers of America in 2011. Willis has won eleven Hugo Awards and seven Nebula Awards, most recently the "Best Novel" Hugo and Nebula Awards for the books available here, " Blackout and "All Clear." Her latest title is "The Road to Roswell." Willis has stated that the first-person accounts of the London Blitz were influences for "Blackout," "All Clear," and "Fire Watch."


In a fantastic and lively 2023 interview with the Los Angeles Public Library, Willis discusses at length her love of Westerns, literary writers, and if she's ever pretended to read a title: "No, because that never works. Somebody always catches you out. One of my favorite episodes of "The Vicar of Dibley" (a great British comedy series, by the way) is about a book group at which nobody has read the book, and they're eventually forced to find something they have read and end up having a high-minded literary discussion about..."Winnie the Pooh." She also references Alan Bennett's "The Uncommon Reader" as her number one recommendation, calling it "a book made for lovers of books...just delightful."
