A handsome dark red leather First Edition SIGNED by the author, Richard Condon. In fine unread condition. With gold-gilt cover designs and page edges, and a bound-in silk bookmark. Richard Condon's other best-known works include "The Manchurian Candidate," "An Infinity of Mirrors," "Prizzi's Honor," and "Prizzi's Money." A lovely copy.

"New York Review of Books" contributor Thomas Edwards has stated that Condon's writing was inspired by "the dirty closets of politics and money." Dubbed "the American Balzac" he wrote prolifically of US politics and the mafia. He began writing in his 40's in advertisement, including "the little wrappers that go around toothpaste tubes and are printed in six point-type which no one ever reads." Cordon spent years in Hollywood and was not shy about his distaste towards the entertainment industry or the political class. He left a legacy of well regarded satires and fast-paced thrillers that often wrestled with themes of power, illusion, sexual obsession and political conspiracies. Money and corruption were main topics of each of his titles, with Cordon stating: "Every book I've ever written has been about the abuse of power...I'd like people to know how deeply their politicians wrong them." His novels often feature asides of extravagantly detailed trivia, something of a delight of his, as well as hilarious, complex metaphors. Fans of "The Sopranos," Mario Puzo's works, or "The Penguin" would appreciate this title.
