Billy Crystal is beloved for his roles in classics like "The Princess Bride," "Throw Momma from the Train," and "Analyze This." He played one of the first regular gay characters on primetime, as Jodie Dallas on the sitcom "Soap." He was known for his character Ricardo Montalban's catchphrase "You look marvelous" and even had a small role in "This is Spinal Tap." It's rumored that Richard Proyer liked Billy Crystal well enough to knight him "a bad mother*****."

In a 2024 interview with Marco della Cava, Crystal says of his introduction into comedy: “I was in the school cafeteria,” recalls Crystal, who was raised on Long Island, N.Y., “and my tray of food fell and everybody laughed. But I didn’t feel bad. I liked it. So the next time I came in, I threw my tray down. I’m 76 now and I’m still dropping trays. And it’s wonderful.”.
