New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1985. First Edition, First Printing. Cloth & Boards. Fine / Fine in Archival Plastic Cover. Item #4045
A beautiful presentation set of a framed limited edition acetate animation film cel celebrating Woody Woodpecker's 50th Anniversary (1940-1990), signed on the cel by his creator Walter Lantz PLUS a First Edition, First Printing of the life story of Walter Lantz, also signed by him with a drawing of Woody Woodpecker. THE FRAMED CEL is professionally framed with red and white matting, a black wood frame and conservation plexiglass to protect the original signature and the acetate from scratches. It features bright and colorful images of Woody Woodpecker as he developed in his creator's mind over the 50 years. NOTE: The framed animation cel measures approx. 3'1" wide x 2 '3" high. Because of its size, the image had to be scanned in three sections even on our large A3 scanner. The "lines" showing these sections in the picture do NOT appear on the original picture which is beautifully perfect. Walter Lantz has signed the animation cel in black felt pen, dated 1990. Below the main picture is a square Universal Studios seal denoting the Anniversary. THE BOOK is a beautiful First Edition, First Printing signed by the author on the front free endpaper with a drawing by the cartoonist of Woody Woodpecker signed "To Steve, Kathy, Sarah/Walter Lantz." In fine unread condition with black and red paper boards. With a fine complete dustjacket protected by an archival dustjacket. 254 pp. including an extensive index. A truly beautiful set of a book and framed signed animation cel celebrating the life of Walter Lantz and his pal Woody Woodpecker.
