A lovely fine copy of this First Edition book of two nursery rhymes with pictures by Maurice Sendak, and signed by him for Parrish Books on the half-title page. Published in 1965, with all the first edition points except the dustjacket is price-clipped. [Hanrahan A65 p. 73] Front flap of dustjacket has 40-80 1165 at the bottom of the flap.
The book features a library binding with green cloth hinge, beautiful full-page illustrations throughout and a highly decorated dustjacket.. But it is the scarce Sendak signature that makes this book special. 54 pp. The dustjacket is protected by an archival dustjacket.
Maurice Sendak has been awarded countless awards for illustration of children's books, including the Caldecott Medal, 1964 (for Where the Wild Things Are); Hans Christian Andersen International Medal, 1970; Laura Ingalls Wilder Award, 1983; Jewish Cultural Achievement Award, 1988; National Medal of Arts, 1996.
