Original Artwork, 1976. Original Artwork, Signed by illustrator. Condition: Fine . Jacket Condition: No Jacket as Issued. Size: 13 x 17" framed. A very rare watercolor and ink painted and signed, in the lower right hand corner, by the late artist Michael Gilbert and dated "11/76". In Fine condition, this is a one of a kind special painting commissioned to Gilbert by author Andre Norton, entitled "Witch World". Not used for any of the published book editions. Signed by both Michael and his wife on the back, "Witch World, Merry X-mas from Michael and Sheila" and dated 11/76. A scanned copy of this signature is included, printed on Parrish Books letter head, since it is not visible due to framing. Professionally framed in mahogany frame, UV protective glass and cotton moss green matting with overall measurement of 13x17 inches. The painted area of the work measures 9" x 6 1/2." Mr. Gilbert (1947-2000) was an artist, author and publishing professional who not only illustrated Andre Norton's stories but also worked as co-author with her on "The Day of the Ness (1975)." He was married for 29 years to Sheila Gilbert, co-publisher of DAW Books, the first publishing company ever devoted exclusively to science fiction and fantasy.
