A spectacular complete set of an elegantly illustrated translation from the Arabic of a world classic. In original black cloth binding with elaborate gold gilt design on each cover. The top page edges are gold gilt; the side and bottom edges are not gilted and are untrimmed. Includes over 70 tissue-guarded reproductions which illustrate the volumes. Overall, VG-VG+ with some foxing throughout but most volume interiors are clean and bright. The gold gilt is lightly tarnished but is very evident. There are frayed ends, especially at the spines, and rubbed and bumped corners. The untrimmed page edges on the fore and bottom edges are still uncut but very darkened. One volume has a loose page, another has two pages replaced with facsimiles, two have a slit on the binding and others have rubbed spots or discoloration. A very heavy and substantial set of impressive books that show their age of almost 110 years old but are a important piece of literary history nonetheless. Our highest grades are Fine and Near Fine.
