The Limited Editions Club, New York, 1982. Signed By Author and Artist. Limited Numbered Edition, Signed by Author. Binding: Aluminum. Book Condition: Near Fine+. Slipcase Condition: Near Fine. Size: 4to - over 9.75" - 12" tall. This Limited Numbered Edition of one of Bradbury's best-known works is the most spectacular of all editions of this important book, originally published in 1953. Signed by the author and the artist, Joseph Mugnaini, on the limitation page. Numbered 1817 of 2000 Limited Edition copies. This Fahrenheit 451, the temperature at which book paper catches fire and burns, is bound in "fire-proof" aluminum. Each book had to be wrapped by hand in aluminum foil, and the covers and endleaves were affixed by hand. Then the cover design was silkscreened on the aluminum foil in red, white and black. These efforts produced a spectacular result and the scanned pictures do not do the book justice because of the shiny aluminum. The book is in near fine condition with light scratches and small dents on the cover edges an to the covers; overall one of the nicest we have seen. An attractive silver gilt covers the page edges on all sides. The book also includes an original full-page lithograph and and three other brilliant illustrations, one of which is a 2-page foldout. The paper-covered board slipcase is also in silver with black velvet lining. It shows light rubs on the panels and noticeable wear on edge panels. especially at the bottom but is solid and complete, and protects the book well. Includes the Limited Editions Club Monthly Letter dated August, 1982 that discusses the book. A scarce and wonderful edition. Scarce. Parrish Books guarantees all signatures as authentic.
